Fishing Derryhick Lake and Surrounds

Lake Access

Fishing Derryhick Lake is free and you can easily access the shore down a short path from the cottages on our grounds. We have a gradual slope into the water from a number of small beach areas, we have an 8 metre floating dock and you can either fish from the shore or dock, use waders, use a kayak or indeed use our 13ft Whaly boat.

Boat Launch

If you are bringing your own boat with you for fishing the area, you can launch from the opposite side of the lake to Derryhick Escape and moor at our floating dock/boat launch as long as you are a guest, as we only have pedestrian walk ways to the water in Derryhick Escape.

Equipment

We have a dedicated Dry Shed for you to dry your gear and store your rods after a calm and successful day on the water.

You can borrow one of our life jackets, lake shoes, dry bags or beach towels.

We also have a petrol or electric outboard depending on conditions.

License/Permits

There is no license or permit required to fish Derryhick Lake. There is no season and since Irish lakes rarely freeze, you can fish all year round. However there are conservation recommendations and guidelines, specifically in respect to Pike fishing as this is one of the more abundant fish in our lake. Please see below links for more information. Our information for Derryhick Lake has been validated with Inland Fisheries Ireland in June 2026.
